Through Dave's Lens - My Photographic Journey

Taking the 'correct' photograph is the quest of every photographer. What defines this photograph can and does vary from photographer to photographer. I have taken several courses, read many books and attended many photography seminars. All of these have several things in common, not least of which is the technical aspects of photography. Things such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO and how these elements are combined to create the correct exposure. The rule of thirds and how it plays in getting better composition. The use of flash and when it is best to use it. The use of color, texture, placement of subjects and many other aspects. Although I have found all of this information useful, I still am hungry to obtain that 'Wow' photo. You know what I am talking about. The photo that everyone looks at and spontaneously says 'Wow!'. I have my own idea of what I want in a photograph and shoot to try and capture that vision, but it is most gratifying to actually be able to get that 'Wow!' response from others now and again. To be able to accomplish that on a regular basis is a photographer's nirvana. I present to you on this website my photography and hope that some will cause you to say 'Wow!', but if they do not, that is OK. It is my sincere wish that you will be inspired by some of my work and that will make you want to go out and create some of your own.

Best regards,

Dave Randolph
